The 16th annual center juried exhibition at the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel opens October 27th and runs through December 1st. If you are in Carmel or making a day trip, seems like an interesting exhibit to visit.

Opening reception for the artists will take place on Friday, October 27, 6:00PM to 8:00PM in the gallery at the Sunset Cultural Center, Ste. 1, San Carlos and 9th, Carmel. The reception is open to the public at no cost.

I missed this opening last week, but SF Camerawork reopened in their new space downtown San Francisco. The show in the gallery right now is Ghosts in the Machine which explores "how elements of the past return to haunt the present in works of contemporary photography and digital media."

Eye of the Beholder - Photographs from the Collection of Richard Avedon.

What does a successful and world famous photographer collect? This exhibit at the Fraenkel Gallery shows some of the collection that spans the history of photography and gives a glimpse into what Richard Avedon liked to look at when not making amazing images of his own.

Very interesting exhibit at Modernbook right now. Fan Ho has images of Hong Kong and a limited edition book called Hong Kong Yesterday. The images are soulful and nostalgic. The images can also be viewed online.
