around town, not far from where i live are a ton of signs sporting neon and interesting typography. most of these seem to be older signs from the 50s or 60s and are still in use today. i haven't been by at night to know if the neon is still being used. there are more out there - san jose seems to be a mecca for this type of sign and hasn't been "upgraded" yet. these are a few captured with the new digital camera and experiementing with the in camera saturation.

Hi Erin,

I was looking for images from New Mexico where I'm going next week, and stumbled across your site which I like very much. I'm not a photographer, just love pics of nature. And old Neon signs too. So next time you are near Oakland, I suggest a old motel East of hiway 580 called "The Sage Motel". I had a very special friend named Sage who passed away a few years ago so every time I go by that place I think of her.

It is on MacArthur Blvd. between High st. and Seminary, not far from Mills College and can be seen from Hiway 580 going in either direction. If you ever take a photo of that please let me know. Till then, just keep up the good work wherever you go!

A fan.

Thanks for posting these familiar icons from my childhood...growing up in San Jose, namely Willow Glen (not too far from the Garden Theater), was wonderful! Wish I had photos of the gorgeous murals that framed the massive theater screen inside.

Thanks again!
Bev
